Viterbo University is a private Catholic university in La Crosse, Wisconsin, founded in 1890 by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. Its academic structure spans three colleges—the College of Business, Leadership, and Ethics; the College of Engineering, Letters, and Sciences; and the College of Nursing and Health—along with the Conservatory for the Performing Arts. The university serves undergraduate, graduate, and adult learners through programs in fields including nursing, education, business, engineering, the liberal arts, and the performing arts.
The institution’s mission centers on faithful service, ethical leadership, and preparation for professional and civic life. Viterbo ties that mission to Franciscan values and to a campus culture that emphasizes service, stewardship, and community engagement. Its location in La Crosse places it within western Wisconsin, and the university also extends its reach through online and graduate offerings designed for working adults and other nontraditional students.
