Columbia University

Columbia University is a private Ivy League research university based in New York City, with its main campus in Morningside Heights in Manhattan and additional major academic and medical operations in Washington Heights. Founded in 1754 as King’s College, it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the United States and now encompasses Columbia College, the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, a large graduate and professional education enterprise, and Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Its work spans undergraduate, graduate, and professional education; scientific and scholarly research; patient care; and public engagement. Columbia’s schools include architecture, arts, business, climate, journalism, law, medicine, nursing, public health, social work, and international and public affairs, serving students and researchers across a wide range of disciplines. The university also operates a global center network that extends its academic and research presence beyond New York.
