Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA) is the first intercollegiate historically Black Greek-lettered sorority, founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The Alpha Nu Omega Chapter is one of the many graduate chapters of the sorority, established to continue the mission of service and sisterhood beyond college. The sorority's mission focuses on promoting high academic standards, community service, and social justice, while also fostering a spirit of sisterhood among its members. The organization has a rich history of advocacy and empowerment, particularly in the African American community, and has expanded its reach through various programs and initiatives aimed at addressing issues such as education, health, and economic development.
