- Selection is based primarily on that essay, financial need, extracurricular activities and community involvement, incentive, leadership qualities, cooperative spirit, positive attitude and enthusiasm, and a well-rounded, outstanding high school experience.
- Special consideration is given to applicants graduating from C.K. McClatchy High School.
