The scholarship was established "for the furtherance of culture and the advancement of education in Australia and elsewhere to be awarded to male Australian citizens who shall be adjudged of outstanding ability and promise as a male Operatic Singer". To be eligible for this award, you must be a male Australian citizen aged eighteen (18) years to twenty-nine (29) years at the closing date of entries.
