- This program is open to high school seniors or students attending college or vocational school who have a tie to LPA (membership is limited to people who are shorter than 4 feet 10 inches because of a medical condition known as dwarfism). Awards are presented in the following order of preference: 1) members of LPA who have a medically diagnosed form of dwarfism; 2) immediate family members of dwarfs who are also paid members of LPA, and 3) people with dwarfism who are not members of LPA. Along with their application, they must submit a 500-word personal statement that explains their reasons for applying for a scholarship, their plans for the future, how they intend to be of service to LPA after graduation, and any other releva… Financial need is also considered in the selection process.
