- This program is open to residents of Hawaii who are of descent. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student at a 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational institution. They must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher when graduating from high school or 3.0 or higher as a graduate student. In the selection process, priority is given to 1) members of the KHCC, including directly related family members; 2) students working on a degree in studies or related fields with an emphasis on the promotion of long-held traditional Native attitudes and values; 3) graduates of targeted schools within the Kona community, and 4) residents of West Hawaii.
